Eurex | Eurex Clearing | Eurex Repo
Amid a calmer market environment, Eurex, Europe’s leading derivatives exchange and – along with Eurex Clearing – one of the leading central counterparties globally, saw a 5 percent decrease in total trading volume in May. A total of 152.7 million contracts were traded, down from 161.3 million in the same month last year. Equity derivatives decreased by 17 percent down from 28.3 million to 23.3 million contracts. Interest rate derivatives saw a 3 percent decrease to 76.2 million contracts.
In OTC Clearing, notional outstanding volumes experienced a 19 percent rise in May, reaching EUR 43,038 billion, up from EUR 36,134 billion in the same period last year. Notional outstanding for overnight index swaps surged by 43 percent to EUR 5,265 billion, while interest rate swaps increased by 19 percent to EUR 17,820 billion.
For Eurex Repo, Eurex’s leading electronic market for secured funding and financing, May 2025 brought a 29 percent increase in daily volumes to EUR 389.9 billion, compared to EUR 303.0 billion in May 2024. The Repo Market went up 27 percent compared to May 2024 and GC Pooling saw an increase of 30 percent from May 2024.
