Trade and hedge KOSPI 200 Derivatives after Korean trading hours
Eurex, Europe’s largest derivatives exchange and a subsidiary of Deutsche Börse Group, and the Korea Exchange (KRX) joined into a product cooperation in 2010. Right from the start, the project received strong commitment from major banks and financial institutions around the world and has been a great success ever since.

On 30 August 2010, Eurex Exchange and the Korea Exchange (KRX) made the KOSPI 200 Options, one of the most heavily traded options contract in the world at that time, available on the Eurex/KRX Link to provide its market participants with trading and hedging opportunities for KOSPI 200 positions during core European and North American trading hours.

In April 2016, Eurex and the KRX jointly announced the extension of the cooperation by another three years and the listing of the Mini KOSPI 200 Futures on the existing Eurex/KRX Link on November 2016. Just like the daily expiring futures contracts on the KOSPI 200 Options, the Mini KOSPI 200 Futures will be listed as fully fungible daily futures to allow a transfer of open interest from Eurex to the KRX. The Mini KOSPI 200 Futures on Eurex will be the perfect hedging vehicle for the KOSPI 200 Options on Eurex, both complementing each other.

Eurex is the only after-hours market for KOSPI 200. There are over 254 million traded Eurex KOSPI Options since inception and a 145 percent quarter-on-quarter increase in the trading volume of the Mini-KOSPI Futures in June 2020.

The strategic cooperation between KRX and Eurex has already proven very beneficial for both Eurex and KRX customers. It will continue to provide market participants with more trading and hedging opportunities on both exchanges.
