Eurozone turmoil is not new. Since the introduction of the euro in 2000, the sovereign bond markets of the participating countries more or less were similar. But as tensions grew, so did the price discrepancies between individual member state bonds.

This growing inconsistency in pricing became more acute. As a result Eurex Exchange took the decision to re-introduce the French sovereign bond futures in 2012.
