The international derivatives market Eurex will introduce options on four additional Swiss equities as of 23 January. It is expanding its successful and liquid Swiss options segment with the new options on registered shares of Actelion, Converium Holding, Geberit and Logitech. Including the new products, a total of 32 options on Swiss equities are listed on Eurex.

Turnover in trading with Swiss equity options on Eurex is on the rise, furthering Eurex’s leading position in European equity options. A total of around 59 million Swiss equity options were traded in 2005, a year-on-year increase of 23.4 percent (2004: 47.7 million). Turnover climbed by as much as approximately 33 percent as compared with the same month one year ago (December 2005: 5.7 million contracts, December 2004: 3.8 million contracts).

Eurex is the largest exchange for the trading of European equity options. It lists options on over 160 equities from 8 countries. In 2005, the equity options segment turned over 256 million contracts, an increase of approximately 21 percent on the previous year.
