The international derivatives market Eurex is set to launch options contracts on Nobel Biocare (NOBE) bearer shares on 22 August. The derivatives market is thus providing liquid and transparent trading in options on the equity even before its inclusion in the Swiss SMI index on October 3 this year. Including the new product, a total of 29 options on Swiss equities are listed on Eurex.

Turnover in trading with Swiss equity options on Eurex is also on the rise, further reinforcing Eurex’s leading position in European equity options. Trading volume in the second quarter of this year was up around 44 percent on the same period last year (Q2/2004: 10.8 million contracts, Q2/2005: 15.5 million contracts). In a year-on-year comparison, monthly turnover in Swiss equity options climbed by 77 percent (July 2004: 2.6 million contracts, July 2005: 4.6 million contracts).
