All companies admitted to trading on the exchange and all companies with shares listed on the official or regulated markets of the FWB, which constituted around 1,400 companies from 17 countries, were eligible to participate in the elections. The Exchange Council was elected for a period of three years.

Seven members were newly elected to the Exchange Council: Wolfgang Beck (General Manager, Scheich & Partner Börsenmakler GmbH), Dr. André Carls (Member of the Executive Board, comdirect bank AG), Dr. Edgar Ernst (Member of the Executive Board, Deutsche Post AG), Horst Marschall (Member of the Executive Board, Baden-Württembergische Bank AG), Dr. Mirko Scherer (Member of the Executive Board, GPC Biotech AG), Willi Ufer (Owner and Managing Director, HSBC Trinkaus & Burkhardt KGaA, Düsseldorf) and Rüdiger Wolf (Member of the Executive Board, equinet Securities AG). A further 15 members were re-elected.

The Exchange Council is the highest controlling and supervisory body of the FWB. Its main responsibilities are the appointment and supervision of the exchange’s general management, as well as issuing the exchange rules, fee regulations, and the conditions for transactions on the exchange.
