First Eurex Participant in Australia

World's biggest network of participants spans three continents

05 Sep 2002
Eurex, the international derivatives market, has now extended its worldwide network to Australia: As of September 4, Fortis Clearing Sydney is the first admitted Eurex Non-Clearing Member in Australia. Eurex made the announcement on Thursday at the 23rd Bürgenstock Meeting in Lucerne, Switzerland. Eurex indicated that further participants from Australia were in the connection process. On the whole, there is a great deal of market interest and market potential in Australia, Eurex said.

The Treasury in Australia has recognized Eurex as an Exempt Futures Market and as an Exempt Stock Market in Australia, giving Eurex the right to trade in equity options and futures in Australia. This means that Australian participants of Eurex now have the complete Eurex product portfolio for trading at their disposal.

Eurex currently has over 10,000 traders operating worldwide from terminals in 18 countries on three continents. The world's Number One derivatives market, it turns over some 3.2 million contracts daily.
