Eurex Chief Jörg Franke Inducted into Derivatives Hall of Fame
08 Feb 1999
Dr. Jörg Franke, CEO of Eurex, the European derivatives market, and member of the Board of Deutsche Börse AG, was inducted into the Derivatives Hall of Fame in New York on February 8. The magazine Derivatives Strategy awards this distinction to prominent figures for outstanding achievements in the derivatives markets. Franke was awarded the distinction for his achievements in the establishment and development of DTB, the fully computerized German options and futures exchange.
Franke has consistently pursued his goal of making cross-border electronic trading a reality. Franke has headed Eurex since its inception in September 1998 as the world's only merger of two derivatives markets (DTB and SOFFEX), for which he was responsible. Under his management, Eurex became the world's second largest derivatives market in 1998. A total of 315 members from 16 countries are now trading a line of liquid international products. Roughly half of all Eurex participants are trading on the exchange outside Germany and Switzerland.
This year is the third time that the Hall of Fame distinction has been awarded. In addition to Jörg Franke, Paul Tudor Jones, Lisa Polsky and Merton Miller also received the distinction.
